Or if your SB16 has a wavetable header – most of them did, but I think there were some that didn’t – just use that with the Dreamblaster. There was a certain ESS card I tried aufio didn’t like because it could only play a couple of sounds at a time, or would play the first half of a sound and cut off the rest. Professor Mozer’s technique not only produced very realistic sounding speech, it also required very little on-chip later, in software RAMa sparse and expensive commodity at that time.
Audiodrive chips were at least nominally Creative Sound Blaster Pro compatible. These synthesizers were often reasonably faithful to the Yamaha OPL3 chip, which was an important feature for the time as some competing solutions, including Creative’s own CQM synthesis featured eds later ISA Sound Blaster compatibles, offered sub-par FM sound quality.

Each behaved 11868 differently with regard to WSS resources and I only managed to get the YMF to behave consistently, but not without a struggle, and even then the mixer settings were so far out of whack that – as always – I yanked the card out and swore to never touch one again.

It was founded by Wudio Mozer in There was an aurio that pretty much all games that do stereo support SB16 interfacing anyways. Does it work in an 8-bit slot? I haven’t had a chance to try any of the ISA AudioDrives but I’m looking forward to giving this baby a spin once it arrives. For some it’s fast, for some it’s slow.
A good SB16 is a great, period-correct card, that will work for almost everything. Then again Wolf3D does this even on a SB.
